Delta Force operator Hector Garcia’s mission as scout for the take-down of a Mexican cartel leads him straight into a gun battle.
Hired gun Alejandra Martinez prowls at the heart of it. The woman who told him to leave town five years ago looks and fights even better than back then.
Only together can they hope to find Love’s Second Chance.
USA Today and Amazon #1 Bestseller M. L. “Matt” Buchman started writing on a flight south from Japan to ride his bicycle across the Australian Outback. Just part of a solo around-the-world trip that ultimately launched his writing career.
From the very beginning, his powerful female heroines insisted on putting character first, then a great adventure. He’s since written over 60 action-adventure thrillers and military romantic suspense novels. And just for the fun of it: 100 short stories, and a fast-growing pile of read-by-author audiobooks.
Booklist says: 3x “Top 10 of the Year.” PW says: “Tom Clancy fans open to a strong female lead will clamor for more.” His fans say: “I want more now…of everything.” That his characters are even more insistent than his fans is a hoot. As a 30-year project manager with a geophysics degree who has designed and built houses, flown and jumped out of planes, and solo-sailed a 50’ ketch, he is awed by what is possible. So short that any rating would be wrong. Yes cute, but of course really shallow. There are some authors who can paint a character with some broad strokes, but he isn't one.
The bigger problem? The 3$ for a scant 20 pages. Sorry it's a rip off IMO.
Alejandra Martinez is a Mexicn sharp shooter and private security officer whose client has just ended up dead after trying to double cross one too many people and she is stuck on the roof of the building while two rival factions shoot it out below.
Five years ago Alejandra told her then boyfriend Hector Garcia to leave and never come back, and he did. Now he's back, bigger and badder then ever.

This one was too dark for my tastes. I didn't care for the older sister thinking of her younger sister in such degrading terms. There's too much judging and slut-shaming in the world already. I don't want to read it in my fiction. I didn't care for the placement of the explosive charge or the gun either.
I also noticed, not in this story, but in two others by this author that I recently read, the word raghead. I really don't like seeing that word at all, much less spoken by a character we are supposed to respect. I hope this isn't a new trend in the author's writing.
Fighting cartel violence and sex trafficking, Hector Garcia left Mexico to join the US Special Forces. He left the One, Alexandra Martinez, behind. This is the story of how he comes for her, and it is entertaining. It is also a show of how badass Special Forces operators are.
Good little short story. It has no basis in reality from my point of view, but it is well written and engaging. If this was the first chapter of a book I would have read the book.
