Our Kid’s selection for December is all about messy mango eating, long days at the beach and reading under the shade of frangipani trees. From the bestselling creators of Alphabetical Sydney and Numerical Street comes their new picture book, Summer Time. A dreamy and nostalgic read, Summer Time is a celebration of all the things that define the season here in Australia. And the illustrations are just delightful! The perfect read to kick off summer.

Summer time by Hilary Bell is a story of what a day in Summer might be like. It is Australian as it has lots of beaches, mangoes, mosquitoes, Neapolitan icecream, season passess to theme parks, and sausages on the BBQ.

There is something really quirky and very typically Australian summer school holidays for a kid in this book. Trying on school shoes always signified the end of summer holidays for me.
