This book takes Clifford's point of view of the Christmas season, beginning with Thanksgiving. Clifford makes different kinds of snowmen, plays ice hockey differently, and brings home a Christmas tree that is only the right size for him (not the family). On Christmas, Clifford and Santa Claus have some interesting interactions.
Norman Bridwell was an American author and cartoonist, best-known for the Clifford the Big Red Dog series of children's books. Bridwell attended John Herron School of Art in Indianapolis, Indiana. He lived on Martha's Vineyard, MA, where he wrote an average of two books a year.
Christmas without Christ. Kate justified it by saying that it's a Clifford book. So I said that when her birthday rolled around again, we'd do fun birthday things, but just without her.
Join the big, red dog as he and Emily Elizabeth celebrate the season together. Clifford loves making snowmen, playing ice hockey, and helping out with the tree. But on Christmas Eve, when Santa accidentally drops his bag of toys into Clifford's water bowl, the dog's good heart and Santa's magic make it the best Christmas ever!
This book overflows with holiday fun. We follow our favorite big red dog as he celebrates Christmas time with his family. It’s the season for making snowmen, picking out a Clifford size tree, and counting down the days until Christmas. There is never a dull moment in this book. Pre-k-1st grade Great book for reading time All students would benefit from this book Not for small group Great for whole class use There are many Clifford books Audio Books Available
Clifford is a fun loving, helpful, and friendly dog. He is a great example for teaching students about being a leader, taking iniative, and helping the teacher and their peers in the classroom.
My students LOVED when I read this to them! I am happy to hear that children still watch or read book of Clifford the Big Red Dog. They loved the silly things Clifford would do! From Clifford making a 'snowdog' to Santa paying him a visit, this book is full of fun! The illustrations were very eye catching that grasped the attention of students! This book is a great quick read for K-1 students for the holidays.
This is a story about Clifford the Big Red Dog. Clifford and his boy are waiting for Santa to come. Santa lands on Clifford's huge dog house, and falls in his bowl of water, and all of his toys get wet. Santa uses his magic to make the toys new again. Cute story for those who love Clifford books.
A very cute read with excellent narration and sound effects. The only thing that would make this audio book better would be to partner it with the "read along" illustration from the book. I have seen other audiobooks do this for new readers and this is one that I truly felt would have benefited from it.
This was a bonus book we didn't realize we borrowed from the library (it was "in" another book once you flipped it upside down). The twins loved this story to the point they want a Clifford book for Christmas.
Keywords: Early childhood, Early readers, Christmas,
Summary: At the first glimpse of Santa, Clifford loves Christmas. Clifford has good intentions to celebrate the holiday but they don't turn out as planned. Clifford still finds a way to help and save Christmas.
Prompt: I listened to this story as an audiobook. The format is an audiobook because there are no images in the story that are being read to me. The audiobook includes Christmas music at the beginning and end of the text as well as sleighbell sounds and textual effects scattered throughout. The reader used good expressions and different vocal tones for different characters.
This is a perfect book to read to a child you hope grows up to be an outcast living on the fringes of society. It's a nice tale about Santa if you can bear to tell you children that Santa fell off a roof and spent the night in an old sock. Also, this book is absolutely part of the war on Christmas. What pagan Santa has magic mittens? I don't even know what happens after that part. I closed the book and said, nuh-uh. Not in front of my children, devil. Two out of five stars.
Standard Clifford story. Follows the Santa version not the Christ version. What bothered me was that everyone fell through pond ice because Clifford was too big.... and no big deal was made about it. I made sure to pause and explain to my children how absolutely dangerous that situation would be, in real life, to see all the children in the lake holding onto the ice like that.
Another great entry in the Clifford picture book series. This time, it's Christmas, and Clifford wants to enjoy building a snowman, playing ice hockey, tree decorating, kissing under the mistletoe, etc. But when Santa comes a calling on Christmas Eve and gets stuck in Clifford's stocking, and presents are ruined in his dog bowl, it's up to Clifford to save the day. My rating - 4/5
Another favorite Christmas read in my house. Clifford gets ready for Christmas & actually meets the big man himself! Clifford saves Santa after he tumbles into his oversize stocking. Love Clifford!
Clifford, the big red dog, enjoyed playing with the children in the snow at Christmas time. when Santa landed on Clifford's doghouse, he couldn't find a chimney. He ended up having a problem, so Clifford helped him so that children could get their gifts.
It's Christmas time for Emily Elizabeth and Clifford! While they count down the days to their favorite holiday, Clifford makes a snowman, gets a tree, and finds a surprise in his stocking. It's a cute Christmas story to read before Christmas.
