When Sally was rescued, this tiny dachshund puppy couldn't eat or breathe without help. Sally had a feeding tube to give her food and medicine. And she had to stay inside a plastic bubble to get the extra oxygen she needed.

But Sally was determined to breathe on her own. She practiced spending small amounts of time outside her bubble. Slowly but surely, Sally's lungs grew healthy and strong. With the love and support of those around her, Sally showed the world what it means to never give up!

This story is perfect for middle-grade readers and includes eight-pages of full-color photos!

Love the story of how they took care of a Dachshund that was having trouble breathing on its own and finally was able to breathe on her own and she got an adopted too. I also have a Dachshund his name is Dexter long hair miniature he is special needs one of his eyes was very small for his eye socket. Now Dexter has gotten bigger he gets bad allergies he eye swollen and his third eye comes out but I give him Benadryl in cheese the next day it’s completely gone.

AGES 8+

Sally’s story is a heartwarming book for kids/tweens! Animal-enthusiasts and aspiring veterinarians will love this story. Unfortunately the writing is quite lacking, which makes the story less engaging! This would be a good read for a child passionate about dogs and veterinary medicine, but I wouldn’t recommend it in general.

As an animal lover and rescuer, I love the idea of these books. As a middle school teacher, I don't love them. I think there could be a lot more science details added. There just isn't a lot here. Using the animal's voice also grates on my nerves. It doesn't add anything to the story.

Sally’s Story kept me on the edge of my seat. Sally went through a lot. I’m so glad she lived through it. Kat did an amazing job caring for Sally and the other animals. If Kat wasn’t there, Sally would have died.
