This one is straight thriller, without mystery clues or much else in the way of letting the reader figure out who the bad guy is before springing him on them at the end when the characters find out. It’s definitely a unique sort of plot with them stranded in town bad guy by a bridge that floods out.

Can I just say the poor cover is not representative of a seven-year-old girl? Looks more like a 3yo to me!

HIDING FROM DANGER by Addie Ellis is the adrenaline-pumping, suspenseful story of Natalie Owens, her 7-year-old niece Shelly and Rick Barrett, former Special Forces Officer. After repeated attacks, Rick is determined to keep Natalie and Shelly safe while trying to figure out who and why someone wants them dead.

After they both survived the fire that killed Shelly’s parents, Natalie is now Shelly’s legal guardian. Afterwards and with thoughts it might help, they rented cabin in Maple Rapids. Now 6 months later, all her good intentions have turned into their worst nightmare. Natalie often found herself awoken from nightmares needing fresh air making stepping outdoors not that unusual. Shelly had noticed this before. However, on this night the lady she saw going down by the river wasn’t Natalie. What she saw was a man trying to stick the woman she has seen under the water. She screamed and ran – right into Natalie, who had come looking for her after not finding her in her bed. They ran to a neighboring cabin trying to escape the man now chasing them. The cabin Natalie had thought was empty – wasn’t!

Rick came to his family’s cabin in efforts to make peace with the past and figure out what his future held. At 31, he’s ready to settle down, but it’s hard to find anyone when your fear of losing them prevents you from opening yourself up to others. When a lady and little girl showed up on his doorstep frightened and in extreme danger, he never flinched about taking them in. His training kicked in. He knew immediately that he would put his life on the line to save them while praying that he won’t fail – not again!

At what lengths will this large man with the strength of an ox go to silence them all? Why hadn’t he killed Rick when he had the chance? Is it someone they know – a local? Is there more than one man after them? Are they all connected? How are they finding out each location they go to? With the road out of town closed and the river too turbulent to maneuver, is there any place safe to go to? Will seeing how gentle and caring Rick is towards Shelly, put butterflies in Natalie’s stomach? Dare Rick open up to Natalie while fearing judgement when past facts are revealed? Is it possible they see a bit of themselves in the other? Will they ever be safe if this mad man isn’t caught?

HIDING FROM DANGER is a fast-paced, action-packed, unputdownable book from page one. Addie Ellis gives us a story of danger, suspense, trust, friendships, family, secrets, small town community, courage, sweet growing romance and wraps it all in a wonderful thread of faith. HIDING FROM DANGER is absolutely FIVE-STAR reading that I highly recommend to everyone!

I received a copy of this book with no requirement or expectations of a review. All opinions are completely my own.

Hunted in the Mountains by Addie Ellis was one of my favorite reads of 2024, so when I saw Hiding from Danger, I knew I had to pick it up.

This story kicks off with a bang and doesn’t let up until the exciting finale. Rick, Natalie, and her niece are on the run, hiding from a killer. The tension really never eases in this story! Just when you think you can catch your breath, another unexpected event occurs. I found myself suspecting so many different characters along the way. Ms. Ellis does a great job of dropping breadcrumbs throughout the story.

I really liked Rick and the selfless way he helped Natalie and Shelly. I also enjoyed how their relationship developed; it felt natural and believable. The addition of the epilogue was a great touch and wrapped things up perfectly.

I can’t wait for Addie Ellis’s next story!

Oh my goodness!! I wish I could give ten stars instead of five. Hiding from danger is one of the best stories that I've ever read!! This author grabbed my attention from the very beginning to the end!! Exciting action packed heart stopping heart pounding sitting on the edge of your seat suspense!! A page turner!! Very emotional storyline!! Ms. Ellis made me feel as if I was part of the story feeling the characters emotions. It was a mystery of who the bad guy was. I will definitely be reading more books by this author in the future. If you love Christian romance then I highly recommend reading this one. I was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

OMS! Hiding From Danger was the best book. I couldn’t put it down. I started it late last night & finished this morning. I was drawn in from the very first paragraph. I loved going along on the journey with Rick, Natalie, & Shelley. It was certainly a page-turner in the best way. I kept trying to figure out the whodunit with every twist & turn only to change my mind of who it was entirely. It really keeps u guessing. I loved the epilogue! It made smile. I’m sad it’s over. It was such a great book.
