¡Números, Baby! is a globally inspired Spanish counting board book written by Baby Ventures co-authors Golzar Kheiltash and Lisa Hall, illustrated by Lisa Hall. Along with being educational, Baby Ventures books introduce and encourage young children to explore their world early on, while enjoying and embracing the beauty it has to offer. Baby Ventures books are inspired by Lisa and Golzar's real-life adventures in diverse locales. Parents and teachers will not be disappointed with these engaging reads, as they make excellent choices for any home or classroom library.
Like all Baby Venture books, ¡Números, Baby! sweeps the reader away on an unforgettable, meaningful adventure from the first page. Here, we are introduced to various places throughout the Spanish-speaking world. On the surface, this is a book that teaches little ones to count in both English and Spanish, specifically for numbers one through ten. Of course, learning to count is fun and beneficial for children, but what puts this book ahead of the rest and makes it shine brighter than the other counting books is the amount of information and opportunities for learning within the illustrations, themselves. As a Spanish teacher, I find this book amazing! There is so much to absorb and expand upon within these well-planned, eye-catching, full-page illustrations.
The book is set up so that every two pages a new number (1-10) is introduced to the reader, along with a Spanish-speaking country, and a point of culture (specific to that country). The names of the countries, as well as the points of culture (from animals and foods to pastimes, events, and places to visit) are strategically placed within the illustrations so that the readers know right away the beautiful places they are learning about. The number that is being introduced is used in a sentence, which is translated in both the English and Spanish languages. I was not aware until recently that some board books do not include any punctuation in the text because it helps new readers keep focused on the words, rather than being distracted by end marks and such. I did find the lack of punctuation odd, but I am an adult who already knows how to read. Knowing now that this is a commonality many board books share, I have no doubt that you will find this one to be outstanding in every way.
Without hesitation, I give a very deserving 5 out of 5 stars to the globally inspired Spanish counting board book, ¡Números, Baby!, written by Baby Ventures co-authors Golzar Kheiltash and Lisa Hall, illustrated by Lisa Hall. Each page is filled with inviting illustrations and educational content. It celebrates languages, encourages exploration, introduces readers to the Spanish-speaking world. While the target audience is children, I’m thrilled to own my own copy! With so much to look at and learn about on each page, both kids and adults will be excited to read this one over and over again!

Travel around the Spanish-speaking world in ¡Números, Baby! by Lisa Hall and Golzar Kheiltash. Every young child loves a counting book, and you couldn't find a more perfect counting book for young Spanish-speaking children than this. For very young children, the pictures and text work as an ideal book for counting in Spanish and English. For slightly older children, the pictures and text work as an introduction to Spanish culture around the world. In the book, children can experience intriguing sites and events in the native cultures of Peru (the Nazca Lines), Panama (Desfile de las Mil Polleras), Costa Rica (Parque Nacional Volcan Arenal), Bolivia (Salar de Uyuni), Puerto Rico, Mexico, Cuba, Guatemala (Festival de Barriletes Gigantes), Spain, and Argentina. All this in a little board book with only a few words of text on each page. Delightful!

A gem of a board book with counting 1 to 10 in Spanish and English. Each page features a different place and experience. The attention to detail is impressive! The other Goodreads reviews are excellent and give more detail. The author is local to Annapolis, Maryland.
This bilingual (Spanish/English) not only provides numbers and sentences in both Spanish and English, but the illustrations depict scenes from Spanish-speaking countries. A good introduction to both language and culture.
