Imminent Domain: Finding Goldilocks

Rate this book
The Exploration
Doomed by a dying star his planet orbits, Commander Jake Conley is given the mission to find a Goldilocks Planet. He and his crew of four pilot a reconnaissance ship, using Faster than Light Propulsion—20 times the speed of light. When Goldilocks is found, the society there lives by a completely different set of rules.

Goldilocks
Set on claiming Eminent Domain; they find a society, which has survived several world wars, is no push over. Hoping their six months endeavor is over; they find it has only begun. Will their reconnaissance vessel continue to protect them?

The Doomed Planet
Before their star morphs further and ends civilization as they know it; the World Relocation Coalition (WRC) prepares an evacuation of monumental proportions. Using FTL technology, they are building not only war ships, but also enormous luxury transports modeled from cruise ships and capable of transporting five thousand inhabitants each. For those not fortunate enough to get passage on a transport, enormous shelters are being constructed to shield them from their fate.
Not all can go to the new world. The evacuees could be determined by health, age, and status.

Who stays? Who goes? Will they force their way onto this blue planet? Will they be rejected?

BIO:
My life has been unique by most standards. I was born on Halloween and delivered by a coroner (Dr David Baxter, Faulker County medical examiner 1968). They nicknamed me Thumper. To this day, most of my family and friends still call me Thumper.

At the age of five, I scored a ten-speed bicycle from my brothers. They couldn't get along and kept fighting over it. My mom gave it to me. I had to climb up on the edge of the front porch to get it started.

My family was quite large and we would cut wood during the winter to help supplement our income. I remember walking through subdivisions at the age of ten, alone, knocking on doors and asking if they would like to buy wood. I was Dad's top salesman. He would give us $5 if we sold a load.

In tenth grade, I lost my father to a horrible accident. He was literally ran over by a ready mix concrete truck.

In eleventh grade, at the age of eighteen, I purchased a new home and formed a rock and roll band. "Next Please" was the name of the band, and we played weekends and made a demo tape. I was offered two contracts, but they weren't quite what I wanted. I still hold the copyrights to several songs I wrote back during that time.

After graduating high school, I became a welder and went to trade school during the day for welding (paid training from my company) and college at night (Electrical).

I designed and built an adjustable concrete insert and patented it (pat #554 8 939 Utility Patent). I solely held full rights to the invention. I obtained a contract with a company named Meadow Steel in Santa Fe, (Tampa) Florida.

After I graduated college, I began to design machine controls. I have made my living doing this and industrial control repairs for the past twenty years. This line of work has allowed me to travel to Italy, Belgium, Holland, France, Canada, and various places all across the United States.

I married the woman of my dreams on January 1, 1991, and we have two daughters. We have been married ever since..

My hobbies include writing, hunting, fishing, riding ATVs, and playing pool (billiards). I enjoy projects with woodwork, steel fabrication, and design work.

Sincerely,
NjbV

This was an interesting Science type story. The writing was well done and well researched.
There was a touch of religion thrown in as the crew of the Parche 1 was looking for another
planet for the inhabitants to occupy. The writing in this book was a bit different than what I am used to so I found it a bit
difficult to get into. That was no fault of the author, it just took me awhile to adjust. I am
giving this story 3 and a half stars as it would have been nice to have a bit more character
background and structure. It is a decent story and I will be reading the next book to see how
it plays out. Thank you. I also want to thank Author Neal J.B. Verne for giving HeadTripping Books the chance to read and review this book!

I won this book in a Goodreads Give-a-way. This book is different in that a planet of people are seeking a new home because their sun is dying. They find a planet but it already has a sentient population. The people from the doomed planet want to move their population there but the natives may have other ideas. Meanwhile on the home planet they are constructing ships for the move. This includes war ships as well as luxury liners to transport part of their population to the new planet. Everyone will not be able to go however so enormous shelters are being constructed to shield them from their fate. This book has a good story line and is a good read. It is written in a different style than I usually read but it is never the less interesting and I recommend it to all Science Fiction fans.

I will be the first to say that I have read very little science fiction in my day, but I very much like the plot line of this book, Imminent Domain: Finding Goldilocks. The author thoroughly describes his settings and the science terms in his work. While I'm not up on the latest in the science field, the research seems solid and helpful to the storyline. Mr. Verne makes realistic connections between his characters and most of them are very likable. The plot is original and moves along well, and while the ending isn't a cliffhanger, there seems to be enough interest in what will happen next to write another book in the series.

Imminent Domain: Finding Goldilocks is definitely one awesome adventure. Neal JB Verne creates a world, characters, and even unknown vast spaces that are so real, you feel like you are right there in the book with them. The unknown the characters feel, the desperation to get to a new planet in the shade of the dying sun orbiting their planet. It is such an adventure and one I believe everyone can get into and love just as much as I did!!
