When Beth the pig discovers that her boots are too small, guess what? She needs her friends to help her find a new pair!
Not for the first time, this reader wonders:
"Where are the parents?"
But no, instead of a caregiver, little Beth must learn about boot shopping from "wise" friends like:
* Liz, a donkey
* And Fred, a frog.
I'm a little curious: "Who is going to be paying for these new boots?" (Yes, that's a question I ask fairly often, when reading a picture book or early reader.
But who cares? This book must be intended for very, very young children who are learning how to read. Yet they still think like preschoolers.
Somehow such readers prefer to encounter characters who are drawn like stuffed animals, characters who speak gramatically excellent English. Somehow.
FIVE STARS for a very cute-and-lively easy reader for the very, very young.

Super cute. All Beth's friends offer her their her boots and then chip in for a new pair for her when none of theirs will fit. Kindergartener approved!
