She was basically chucking her best friend, Elise, under the bus, by ratting her out to her Commandant Mother, to possibly save her Jewish husband...and if Clara hadn't fallen out of favor with the Nazis, I'm sure she would have sent Ernst to his death. Lorraine Incredible naivete? It didn't make much sense, and the fact that Clara didn't immediately turn in the husband only makes sense much later.

Unanswered Questions (1)

Why was John taunting Maggie about killing a man? He was there, as she literally shot the guard to save her own and John's life. It makes no sense.
