Posted by Hayley on July 03, 2015

J.R.R. Tolkien once wrote, "If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world."

This summer, take Tolkien's advice. Put aside your hoarded gold, gather up some friends, and start valuing your food. The following cookbooks can help. From decadent bacon chocolate chip cookies to delectable spicy honey and habanero shrimp, there's a little something to inspire every palate. Bon appétit!

T. Soto The Lemon Cookbook looks great. There's nothing like eating something fresh during the summer. Lately this summer, whenever I indulge I enjoy eating entomatadas. They are a mild and lighter version of enchiladas. Instead of filling the corn tortillas with red chili pepper sauce, you fill them with tomato sauce. From there you can add queso fresco (cheese that is made from both goat's and cow's milk) and onions.

MaryannC.Book Fiend Muy Delicioso!

Corey The Complete America's Test Kitchen TV Show Cookbook is my mom's new favorite, and we've had several great meals out of it. I don't know how "summery" it is, but its good.

Kay J I love cooking with lemon juice and the zest, it makes a world of difference for your food, and who doesn't like refreshing cocktails?

Erma Talamante Just finished with Fifty Shades of Chicken. There are some really great recipes in there, perfect for summer nights al fresco. I think one of my favorites was the Mustard Spanked Chicken. So good, and my kids ate it without question!
