Last week we asked on Facebook and on Twitter: Who's your favorite book mom? Today we've got your top answers. Did your pick make the list?

message 2: by Jo (new)

Jo Cavins Charity Lang from Stegner's Crossing to Safety, who wanted to have a houseful of kids so she could raise them with "benign neglect." Something to be said for remembering much of mothering is about getting out of the way.

message 3: by Susan (new)

Susan Hamblet In Alice Hoffman's "The DoveKeepers, she seems to be writing about mothers and daughters and the intense relationship between them, and how you learn about life through what you’re told by your mother and grandmother and the other women you’re close to.” The section called “The Witch of Moab” begins, “My mother taught me everything a woman must know in this world and all it was necessary to carry into the World-to-Come.”

Grace Sally Jackson from the Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan.
Once she stayed with an abusive guy- Smelly Gabe- for years just to keep her son, Percy safe.
She once said- "As much as I want you to come home," she says, "as much as I want you to be safe, I want you to understand something. You need to do whatever you think you have to do... I'm telling you that I'll support you, even if what you decide to do is dangerous."

How awesome is that?
