It's long been a dream of ours to bring Goodreads inside your Kindle and into the book with you. The team has been working long and hard to make this possible and we can't wait to show you the results today.
Let's take a tour!
Thanks again to the Goodreads team who built this—they put in a lot of late nights and ate a lot of giant burritos! After a well-earned rest, they'll be back at work building a new wave of features both on Kindle and on Goodreads.com.
Goodreads is available in a free, over-the-air software update delivered automatically to new Kindle Paperwhites in the US, Canada and Australia in the coming weeks. Can't wait for the update? You can also go here to download it. We do not have details to share about other Kindle e-readers but know that Amazon has a long history of bringing new features to previous devices.
Which feature in Goodreads on the new Kindle Paperwhite appeals to you the most?

Any plans to have the same integration for Kobo e-readers?

Steve wrote: "Any plans to have the same integration for Kobo e-readers?"Unlikely, since Amazon owns Goodreads and wouldn't benefit from a Kobo/GR integration.

That,s really a shame. I would love to have Goodreads on my Kindle Paperwhite but it's not on my model. One day soon I will have to get the newest one. Is it on Kindle Voyager?
Janet , Hi :) I LOVE it as often I cant get to the computer & I follow you & read your reviews & comment all on my Kindle Paperwhite
I so hope you get it soon as it is so nice if you cant get to a P/C
Happy Weekend All
D :)
Its such a shame that is not only a "model" issue but also a "country" issue. I don't get it that is is not available in Germany - I mean it would also help spreading Goodreads as it is fairly unknown up to now and therefore German books are a minority in Goodreads ....
Somewhere early December 2014 my Kindle Paperwhite 2013 model was updated automatically, but then I lost the "G" menu option ...Before the update Goodreads was available in the menu (it didn't sync reading progress though), however now it is no longer there.
Anyone the same experience?
I live in the Netherlands.
Ok, I contacted Amazon about loosing Goodreads after a software upgrade early December. It appeared that I needed to have a US address in my Amazon profile to get Goodreads back working.
So I did that and now Goodreads is back! :-)
So this could work for others too, I suppose.
Good luck to you.
P.S. I still haven't figured out how to sync reading progress to Goodreads though.

It's the Share button that syncs the reading progress to Goodreads. Make sure you have the latest update.

There is another update if I'm not mistaken. Plus I don't think it works under 3G connectivity. just Wi-Fi.

Go to Settings, then Reading Options, then Social Networks. Check to be sure you have linked your Goodreads account. Once it's linked to share Reading Progress from open book click Share, there is option to post reading progress to Goodreads and any other linked social network.
Thank you, i tried it and it works. You need to select some text before sharing. I was under the impression that I could update the currently reading and progress in book info using the Share function.... My mistake.

I wonder - if the paperwhite never had GR on it - because it was purchased in Germany - how to convince it to get GR on it ... just simply adding a US Address to your Adress Lists does not help... I tried that ....
Anybody any Ideas ?
The English language obviously began in England right? So why can't we connect to Goodreads?.. Crazy!
Q NOT ON THIS TOPIC BUT HELP !!! lolHi all,
I am new here but really hope someone can help me or point me in the right direction for asking this Q?
Amazon Kindle , now has deal for 9.99 per month for all the books they have stated that you can read any amount .

Adam wrote: "Not sure if they will add this to Kindle UK, if they were going to they would have done it by now?"I talked to Amazon about that short while ago ...
They said they were currently working on this issue (whatever that means because I have no idea what is so difficult about it - I mean we are all using Goodreads here basically in english no-matter where we are actually located so there isn't even the issue of translating the software) for several european countries including UK and Germany - so we all should just sit down and WAIT for them to finish
I asked them about a possibility to use Goodreads on my Kindle even if I was not living in one of the countries where it is currently availabe ...
They told me to simply move my account to another country like eg. USA ...
Naturally I would "loose" all my ebooks in their cloud doing this. Which is a subject I simply do not understand. If they offer a "moving" of an account (as an option to simply creating a new account) it should be moved with everything belonging to it - this is like moving your household without your household ... it makes no sence.
Well anyway i was told I could simply backup my books on my kindle (so I would not loose them)- than move my account to anouther country - update my kindle from the then current amazon page (I should request help for that again from the staff of amazon in the country I relocate to)and then I would be good to go ...
And they said I could relaocate back at anytime again - what she could not answer was ... IF I relocate back for example when goodreads is available in my country - if my purchased books would still be there again on my return in their cloud ... So if they don't know - who does ?!?

Hmm sounds way too complicated to move Amazon to another country account.
Why have these wonderful features not been added to the mobile apps? I only read on my iPhone and iPad because I cannot carry all these devices. If iBooks updates their service I will have to move to them.
Can somone explain me how to get goodreads if i'm not in the US?I've an account on amazon.com, but no luck on sync with goodreads..
my cousin told me that:if you have have an account on amazon.com
if you have an US address
if you associate the kindle to the US address
and then sync
googlereads pops up.
PS: then you are bound to the US market and buy stuff is complex since you are not US and the adress may not be yours.. but probably you can bind the account to the real adress and keep only the kindle connecte to US marketplace.
For us Italians with an amazon.it account: when I asked about linking goodreads to an Italian account, the support very helpfully (sarcasm) replied that it's not yet possible for non-US citizens (really??? Hadn't noticed), but to keep a lookout for the Italian site for any announcement. So, basically, they said nothing.
