Sam I'm 4 books behide :-(. My goal is 25 and I've read 16 this year but I have to read 9 book in two months to reach my goal I'm lucky to read 4 in 2 months. I ether have to cheat or knock my reading challenge down.

Rae Marie I increased the number of books and have met and surpassed to my own surprise. Unfortunately, other things have not moved ahead as

message 10: by Kristine (new)

Kristine Morris I am on track.

message 11: by Jorge (new)

Jorge 8 more books to go! I'm not shooting for a gigantic number this year, I just want to surpass the amount I read last year.

message 12: by Stephen (last edited Oct 31, 2013 08:40AM) (new)

Stephen Gilman Way ahead of schedule, but I sorta cheated by counting short stories and novellas as "books".

I also specifically tended to choose shorter, easier-to-read novels rather than longer, more literary works.

Next year, I think the challenge should be number of words read, rather than the number of books read.

message 13: by Julie (new)

Julie only 4 more to go, piece of cake

message 14: by Kate (new)

Kate Done! But I unofficially reset my goal.

message 15: by Andrea (new)

Andrea My initial goal was 13. (I read 12 last year.) I ended up increasing my goal quite a few times along the way until I hit 52. I've read 60 as of today, so I'm good.

message 16: by Jamie (new)

Jamie My goal is 200 and I have 31 books to go :)

message 17: by Janine (new)

Janine Last Nearly done. I'm 2 books away from my 100 goal.

message 18: by Laura (new)

Laura I'm 12 away from my 75 goal, so I'm still a couple of books ahead :)

message 19: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Almost!

message 20: by Ann (new)

Ann Stank What is the challenge I new to this sitt

message 21: by stormhawk (new)

stormhawk I hit my 100 earlier this month thanks to a manga marathon.

message 22: by Lisa (new)

Lisa I'm almost there. Should hit it no problem. Did 80 books this year, 100 last year was hard.

In the beginning of the new year GR ask you to challenge yourself in how many books you would read by the end of the year ie. mine was 100 books

message 24: by Stacey (new)

Stacey Every time a new book comes out in a series I'm reading I read the series again from the beginning so I'm way behind in my challenge but still reading books so it's not so bad. Still some time to turn it around.

message 25: by Warren (new)

Warren Benton Well I set my goal at 45. Then bumped it to 52. The 60. Now I'm bumping it to 80. Its crazy that I have read almost double the amount I read last year. Ive also kept a 2-1 ratio of the number of nf to f. If I take out all the clasic fiction then I'm really like 4-1.

message 26: by Margarethe (new)

Margarethe Yes I can do it....but in the middle of the year Ireduced it from 80 to 60...sorry

message 27: by Becky (new)

Becky I'm trying hard to get there. I love Holiday Romances so I hope to really get into those

message 28: by Anusha (new)

Anusha Rathor I've read a lot more than the 250 books I put up for my challenge. But I don't know how to update it.

message 29: by Becky (new)

Becky go into your challenge name and it will list all of your books so far. Then choose edit and you can change your amount.

message 30: by Craig (new)

Craig Foremost: The "Reading Challenge" is fundamentally flawed as it measures "books" read per year. Ideally this should be measured in "words" read per year, or even "pages" read per year would be greatly more accurate. I read around 30-40 books per year (+10,000 pages). My wife is a 1st grade teacher who reads around 100 kids books per year (1,500 pages, tops!). Is there any way to change your challenge goal from "books" to "pages"?

That said:

I always set my challenge for 26 books (two weeks per book) primarily to give myself a minimum number of books that I know I want to read. I know that reading is good for me and setting a minimum helps keep other, more unsavory activities (read: watching TV) at bay. Anything over the 26 is just gravy and bragging rights.

Last year I ended at 31 books and this year I'm already at 42(16,000 pages)!

message 31: by Becky (new)

Becky I am so into manual reading right now for a new software program we are learning at work, I hope I make my goal.

message 32: by Stephen (new)

Stephen Gilman Hit #100 today!

message 34: by Felipe (new)

Well the thing is simple, you choose how many book you want to read in the year and then... well you read them. thats all.

You set your own goal!
