Newly Designed Goodreads Groups

Posted by Jessica on May 1, 2012

Thousands of book groups call Goodreads home. We have fan groups, local book clubs, school classrooms, groups for every literary genre you can imagine! With so many different kinds of groups—from Ladies & Literature to Ancient & Medieval Historical Fiction to Nothing but Reading Challenges—we wanted to give each group a way to shine and the opportunity to carve out a unique niche on Goodreads. So, we've added two major improvements to enhance the group experience.

Now any group can feature videos on its home page. Some groups are already taking advantage of this bonus:

Sci-fi and fantasy gurus Veronica Belmont and Tom Merritt are sharing episodes of their book show, The Sword and Laser.
Felicia Day and her friends discuss paranormal romances and other juicy delights in the Vaginal Fantasy Hangout.
The History Book Club is posting scholarly videos on topics related to books on its currently reading shelf.
There are hundreds of ways to augment the Goodreads group experience with a video: Post a book trailer to get your group excited about your next read; share a clip of an author interview to spur discussion for the book you just finished; analyze the page-to-screen transformation when your favorite book is made into a movie. Start adding videos to your group today!

Now you can spruce up your group's homepage with a new design! Choose your own image to complement your group logo and enliven the page. Many groups have already selected some beautiful images. What will you choose?

Which groups have the most striking or most surprising images? Let us know what you think!

Angie Thanks for posting this on facebook... half the time I don't know about the changes and I have to find out about them when they just "pop" up on the group!

Alethea A I really love the new images. I redesigned the header for our Study Buddies group to highlight Maria V. Snyder's latest novel.
