The 2010 Goodreads Choice Awards

Posted by Jessica on December 6, 2010

Goodreads wants you to choose the best books of the year! Which novel did you relish in 2010? Which biography blew your mind? Select your favorites for the Goodreads Choice Awards in 23 categories, including fiction, debut author, favorite heroine, and more! Winners will be announced in January, so place your votes before we ring in 2011!

The 2010 Choice Awards reflect what you and your friends are really reading. The polls are now open and voting will continue throughout the month.

There were no secret committees. We did not defer to experts or look at book sales or previous awards. Goodreads nominated 15 books in 23 categories by analyzing statistics about books read by our members from the 47 million books added, rated, and reviewed on the site in 2010. With the exception of the Cover Art category, each nominated book has an average rating of 3.50 or higher. We weight both a book's popularity and its average rating when choosing nominees. But don't worry: If you don't see your favorite book, you can use the write-in vote option. All books published in 2010 are eligible.

The Choice Awards will select the Favorite Book of 2010. We have all major reading genres represented: Fiction, Mystery & Thriller, Fantasy, Paranormal Fantasy, Science Fiction, Romance, Historical Fiction, Graphic Novels & Comics, Poetry, Nonfiction, History & Biography, Memoir & Autobiography, Humor, Young Adult Fiction, Young Adult Fantasy, Middle Grade & Children's, and Picture Books. We also have a few fun categories: Cover Art, Favorite Hero & Heroine, and Debut Author. Finally, we have a special category for Goodreads Authors.

Raise your voice and rock the vote!

Harlequin Books Hi Jessica, we're trying to reach out to you for some help here at Harlequin TEEN. Our author Julie Kagawa (The Iron King) is currently in the number 2 spot for best debut book for the 2010 goodreads choice award despite not being listed on the main splash page with covers. Is there ANY way the book could be added/included on this page for voting?
