Goodreads Mascot Competition - Poll nearly finished

We've got a week left to vote on the Goodreads mascot competition.

I'd like to remind you guys that this is just for fun; we're not going to change our branding or anything.

Since I posted last we've had a lot of disqualifications and one person decided to bow out of the competition (markus). About 1000 people's votes disappeared as a result of that. I'm sorry for not being more thorough and initially checking on copy rights, etc.

The bee has first place pretty locked up, but the competition for second/third is really close!!!

Thanks again to all the people who entered.

Michael Economy Copyright violations.

The Crimson Fucker OK! i'm trying to get the facts straight!

so you saying that Bumble won't be to Goodreads what The Fox is to Mozilla??? i won't have to see it every time I log in???

message 4: by Otis, Chief Goodreader (new)

Otis Chandler The only thing we currently plan to use this mascot for is a tshirt.

Ann (Noumena12) There isn't an option for none. :)

message 6: by Moira (new)

Moira Russell I thought there was going to be another poll?

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

PEOPLE, PLEASE HELP

Elizabeth (Alaska) I don't get this. Why would we have a mascot?

message 10: by Michael (new)

Michael Economy For fun.

message 11: by Ari (new)

Ari the perfect mascot for the site would be a book. period. i don't get why goodreads should have one this is no farmville. #fail

message 12: by Joyzi (new)

Joyzi I might kill someone if the bee would be the GR mascot, no kidding

message 13: by Jessica (new)

Jessica agree w/ 12, 13.

also I thought this poll was so flawed it should have been deep-sixed a long time ago (even if it is/was just for 'fun')...

but no one listens to me

:(

Susan (aka Just My Op) Wow, I am surprised to see a fun poll bring out so much hostility. Perhaps a nice, warm bubble bath andd a glass of wine/hot milk would help.

Me too! Just have fun everybody! I like the Octavo monster best. Wouldn't mind having a shirt with him on it :)

Ha ha!

Elizabeth (Alaska) I didn't and hope I won't see whatever this brings.

Tra-Kay o_o Caaalm dooown. It's no fair that belligerent comments that would otherwise be ignored or dismissed are accepted when grammar and spelling are good. He already said you won't see the mascot on the general site, ne.

I like the dragon. Go, dragon! There's still TIME!!!

message 19: by Kendall [Kenny] (new)

Kendall [Kenny] I think this was fun.

message 20: by Mark (new)

Mark I favor the absurd. A book or a bookworm is far too obvious..I suggest a cat holding a dozen roses, from the middle of the bouquet, we can see the ill-concealed hatchet...just a thought -M

message 21: by Curtis (new)

Curtis Schofield I think we could make 3 t-shirts with the top three mascots and that would rock

message 22: by !ĘŁÏŻÅ¡ (new)

!ĘŁÏŻÅ¡ I should've known about this earlier! I took a pic of a chicken in a bookstore, and the chicken was standing on a pile of the Hunger Games!

message 23: by Julia (last edited Nov 24, 2010 03:24PM) (new)

Julia Esposito I cant wait for the results, its just a poll! the world wont end if u dont get what u want, if you are mad, just get of the computer and go read a book,
NO ANGER OR VIOLENCE!!!

message 24: by Brixton (new)

Brixton I'm not sure if anyone is aware of this or if it has been mentioned in the voting thread itself, but there is already a website called bookbee.net. It is dedicated specifically to the subject and promotion of etexts (I refuse to call a download a "book"). There appear also to be a few bookstores in the US called Bookbee. I mention this because I would rather Goodreads not be or become confused, associated, or get otherwise in any kind of trouble with stuff that's already out there.
