New Feature: Book Series

Posted by Patrick Brown on September 15, 2010
One of our most frequently requested features has finally gone live on the site -- now you can catalog your favorite books by series. All books in a series are now linked for easy reference. How many Nancy Drews have you read?

Over 42,000 titles have been already been added to series since we created the feature a few weeks ago. Not surprisingly, the Harry Potter books are the most popular series, followed closely by the Twilight Saga, Dan Brown's Robert Langdon series (which includes The Da Vinci Code), and The Lord of the Rings (The Hobbit not included). The rest of the top ten most popular series are as follows:

It's kind of amazing to see the tremendous breadth of styles of books on the list. Six of the ten most popular series are by living authors, and all but one are by a single author, working alone. What are a few of your favorite series?

Janelle I'm so happy to see this! Great addition. My favorite series, honestly, Harry Potter. I'm reading the Little House on the Prairie Series to my daughter too, another wonderful timeless series.

Shawn So, how exactly do I catalog my books by series? I don't see anywhere on my book page where it will let me do this...maybe I'm overlooking something.

Janelle When you are on the books page...for instance click on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone here. When you're on the page, just below the books description, you'll see the ISBN and more information below. If it is a series you'll see "series". Click on the name of the book to the right and it is the link which lists all the books in the series. (Took me a minute too).

Freyya Quinn The Lord of The Rings is not a series but a book that was split into three due to pratical constraints at the time. Sounds like a terrific feature, can't wait to use it!

Shawn Oh, I thought when it said you could catalog your books by series that on your personal books library you could view by series...hmm, oh well.

Brenda Love, love, love J.D. Robb's In Death series! Can't get enough of Lieutenant Eve Dallas, hubby Rourke, Peabody, McNab and all the rest of the cast. I generally have to read one in the middle of my other reads, just to get my 'fix'!!
