Great list! I have 12 from this list on my TBR, I've read and enjoyed Who Is Maud Dixon? and there are about 5 more I could see myself reading based on a casual glance at the summaries. Looking forward to more of Mystery & Thriller week.

I've read a lot of mysteries & thrillers (from Classic Crime to Cozy Mysteries) so far this year and I am glad to add more (though this is getting in the way of my science fiction reading). Good problems to have. :)

‘The Push’ is my next read. I’m about halfway through ‘Covet’ by Rachel Harley right now. I don’t hate it, but I’m not exactly in love with it either. Eh.

Thank you! I couldn't agree more. I hardly use Goodreads anymore for recs or highlights. Even "honest" book reviews are hard to find without some woke af person pushing an agenda. UGH!

"They'll" more likely say that it's my own damn fault that most of my favorite books are written by either a male author or have a male lead character. Oh well...

Two of my most anticipated reads this year!! I hope I like it ✨

I've tried many books by female authors but I really prefer male authors because they tend to be more to the point. Less sidetracking, less romance and more manly I guess. Is this maybe a common thing among other readers? That they prefer male or female authors in general? Not here for a flaming war, but looking to understand my own book preferences.

I am really looking forward to Stacey Abram's novel, While Justice Sleeps! I had no idea she was a novelist, I am sad to admit. I also will be reading Later by Stephen King, and The Man Who Died Twice by Richard Osman. Oh, and for all of you poor misogynists who cannot abide women authors, go crawl back under your rocks.

I read mostly mysteries, and there is no book on this list that has I want to read. Two of may are Lady Darby by Anna Lee Huber and one by David Rosenfeld one on new series about K-9 dogs. A woman and a man.

I personally feel that established authors like you mention Baldacci, Sandford, etc. don't need to be promoted on Good Reads. Their followers will read their books. I don't understand why folks hang out in a site like Goodreads if they don't agree with the books/ideas/whatevers listed! Your choice--get out! I'm looking for new ideas/authors, not old ones - which I already have in my TBR pile!!

I’ve read quite a few of these. Who is Maud Dixon, Every Last Fear, The Survivors, The Good Sister, Six Weeks to Live, Findlay Donovan is killing It and The Burning Girls are all well worth the time to read. Four or five stars.
Not as thrilled by The Lost Village, The Push, The Wife Upstairs or The Lost Apothecary. But they’re each solid 3 stars.

Here is what I do when I see a book that doesn't interest me; now listen up because this is a secret...I walk or scroll right by and don't purchase it. Now use this information carefully, and you won't have to be contaminated by 'toxic femininity'!
It is striking to note that someone could be so upset simply because of what they perceive to be a female name on a book cover without knowing one thing about the book.

I would say, Stephen King, James Elroy, Paula Hawkins. Harlen Coben puts a steak in the heart of that theory not to mention the Heading says nothing about promoting "New" authors. All Goodreads is becoming good for is cataloging your library. I find much more unbiased reviewing over at Audible. Are there any people working at Goodreads who judge by the content of the book or is it just the sex of the author now?

The fact that this completely innocent topic, a list of thriller book recommendations, has caused so many of you to write/attack each other's opinions is so incredibly ridiculous. Seriously, chill, it's a list of book recommendations! Like it, hate it, but please relax and stop with all the stupid pointless arguments and cruel comments. What is the point?!

This is so absurd. Go back and read some history. We live in a male focused society in the US, western Europe - Hundreds of years ago, women writers had to take male names in order to get published. Most of you do not have a clue about the sex of the authors - only if you have seen them on TV and are you certain that was really the author, or someone she paid to speak as herself? Stacey Abrams supported herself for a long time writing bodice rippers under a pseudonym. I once sat through a debate between eminent university English professors about the bias or focus of male or female authors and their characters. They did not know the difference. Don't waste anymore time on this discussion. It does not matter. What matters is if the author or the description of the book interests you. And we do change our interests over time. I just read a comment on another site about Alex Delaware becoming trite. I thought so a long time ago and quit the Delaware mysteries. Some still love them. These list are just like the Goodreads giveaway list - a way for us to find out about new authors or new books published by authors we like or dislike. peace, janz

Very unappealing list. Think your definition of thriller needs reassessment. Tedious whodunnits and boring mysteries. Not helpful in the least.

As a long time librarian, I think this is common. I read a lot of male authors before I retired for readers advisory reasons, but tend toward female ones. Margaret

Covers of books - it’s strange but some covers just turn me away from reading a book ! Silly or what ? For example - Survive the Night - Skipped right over it lol
