message 101: by Louvan (new)

Louvan I've never read any romance so I have taken one of the beginner's suggestions, the Lawrence Brown Affair, although this sounds like a bit of a Gothic tale so maybe won't be too far from the kind of thing I might choose anyway.

Adrika Mondal Hi I am new in goodreads. I don't read romance that much because I devour classics ,YA , fantasy, sci fi, historical. I am planning to re read The Importance of Being Ernest by Oscar Wilde. It was a very humorous love play. I will also read Emma by Jane Austen.

message 108: by KOMET (new)

KOMET Rather than decry romance as some people are apt to do (for reasons largely known to themselves), I think 'Romance Week' in Goodreads is a wonderful way for readers to share with others the novels where romance is the main thing that they have read or eagerly anticipating reading.

Here are a couple of novels I have in my library that I learned about from an interview with the author on a radio program sometime ago.

1) The Note by Zoë Folbigg

The Note (The Note, #1) by Zoë Folbigg

"Love at first sight—based on the true story of one girl and her 'train man'...

"One very ordinary day, Maya Flowers sees a new commuter board her train to London, and suddenly the day isn't ordinary at all. Maya knows immediately and irrevocably that he is The One.

"Every day they go through the same routine; he with his head in a book and her dreaming of their happily-ever-after. But eventually, Maya plucks up the courage to give Train Man a note asking him out for a drink.

"And so begins a story of sliding doors, missed opportunities, and finding happiness where you least expect it. Based on the true story that everyone is talking about, 'The Note' is an uplifting, life-affirming reminder that taking a chance can change everything."

2) The Postcard by Zoë Folbigg

The Postcard (The Note, #2) by Zoë Folbigg

"The sequel to the bestselling phenomenon 'The Note' — based on the true story of one girl and her 'train man.'

"A year after the kiss that brought them together in a snowy train-station doorway, Maya and James are embarking on another journey — this time around the world.

"The trip starts promisingly, with an opulent and romantic Indian wedding. But as their travels continue, Maya fears that 'love at first sight' might not survive trains, planes, and tuk tuks, especially when she realizes that what she really wants is a baby. Trouble is, James doesn't feel the same.

"Meanwhile Maya's best friend Nena is struggling with the reality of being a new parent, little knowing that her friend risks losing the love of her life over her dreams of motherhood.

"Can Maya and James navigate their different hopes and dreams to stay together? Or is love at first sight just a myth after all?"

walking through sheets
on a clothesline
shadows shining through
silhouettes of her
