Janet Killips Many of these books have crossed my desk already (cataloguer here) and I was intrigued. The word debut in a description always makes me want to take another look and I have found some gems. Today I have added 8 more books to my TBR list. I love seeing books coming out of Africa, and out of cultures other than the typical American experience. I need to read more and faster!

Nadia I'm incredibly thrilled to see the diversity of new Authors!! Added several to my TBR and at this rate will have to spend even my sleeping time reading :-D

Sunita Dhurandhar I've been wanting to read Vijay's The Far Field, which I've been told is very good. A Woman is No Man is great.

Agree 100%. There's been a lot of great books coming out from African authors in recent years, although I'm learning there's been great books published by African authors for a long time, we've just been deprived of that perspective here in the U.S.

That is why I love goodreads so much. I have foind so many authors I would otherwise have missed out on!!! My list grows exponentially every day!! It has simply taken on a life of it's own!! There are simply not enough hours in my day (or my life-- haha) to read all the books on my list!

Alanbooth For a book like no other try 'The Life of Death' by Lucy Booth - the story of how a young girl who has sold her soul to the Devil has to perform various tasks for him to get her life back and consumate the love of her life. Has has tremendous reviews.

message 19: by Heather (new)

Heather Curran Sunita - The Far Field is well worth the read. I also loved The Old Drift and Fleishman is in Trouble - two debut novels that blew my socks off. Next up is Julia Phillips "A Disappearing Earth". What a stellar year for new authors.
