Elyse The Last Time I Lied was AMAZING. Must-read! What a great thriller!

message 6: by Constantine (new)

Constantine The Last Time I lied is part of my book of the month read. Excited to get that soon. Might read it in August though.

And I just added The Monarchy of Fear: A Philosopher Looks at Our Political Crisis to my wishlist after reading a comment on this page that the author Martha Nussbaum is raving those who are anti-Trump.

I will support any author who will be anti-Trump. Anti Trump means you are anti-hate, anti-greed, anti narcissism, anti-racism.

Rebecca how did these lists of characteristics come about? I mean - "the musical Hamilton and Ancient Greece?" "marginally helpful earth therapists" - these are hilarious but who made them up?

Rachel I've read Eagle and Crane a week ago. It was a good book and I enjoyed it.

I don't know but it's too bad that you think Martha Nussbaum, who is generally considered a liberal centrist to be a 'raving leftist" for being critical of Trump's immigration policy proposals, which are opposed by many conservatives as well.

Rebecca Wonderer wrote: "Rebecca wrote: "I don't know but it's too bad that you think Martha Nussbaum, who is generally considered a liberal centrist to be a 'raving leftist" for being critical of Trump's immigration polic..." I would look at her argument to see if she supported the idea that Trump blames immigrants, Muslims and other races for the problems of the U.S. Based on his speeches, tweets, and policy positions, this seems accurate to me.

Rebecca nope. It's not bad faith, it's about a different understanding of humane values. Since this is a book website, let me recommend some books to you.
The Beast: Riding the Rails and Dodging Narcos on the Migrant Trail
Impossible Subjects: Illegal Aliens and the Making of Modern America

Rebecca FFS, this is a forum about reading books. Your entire presence here is dedicated to judging a book that you admit that you haven't even read and you accuse other people of arguing in bad faith.

Martha Cullen I read a first time by Kim Beall titled Seven Turns.....A very compelling story. Looking forward to the next one
