Anissa I fully recommend The Book of M by Peng Shepherd. It was wonderful. That it supplanted my first favorite read of this year, Chris Brookmyre's Places in the Darkness) was a pretty big deal to me.

Shepherd's debut made me open up to magical realism in my science fiction reading. I have reliably shied away from it & hadn't known going in, that it was an element in the story. If her thread of that in the book is indicative of how it's usually written, I've been missing out a lot.

Frank-Intergalactic Bookdragon Smoke in the Sun is already out but i still haven't read Flame in the Mist like i said i would 😒
