The Hottest Books of Summer

Posted by Hayley on May 14, 2018
Summer is a dream; summer without books is a nightmare. Prepare yourself for a blissful season of reading with soon-to-be favorites in every genre!

To create our list, we focused on what Goodreads members are anticipating and reactions from early reviewers. We measured anticipation by how many times a book has been added to Want to Read shelves, and then we only included books that have earned at least a four-star rating. (If you're curious how you can read prepublished books and be among the first to rate them, take a look at our book giveaways.)

Now let's get to the books. Tell us which ones you can't wait to read in the comments.

Really? I would classify it as Urban Fantasy. Unfortunately it's not out until November.

Joan Westgate Great idea! More man-book-ideas here + I fully agree. You've got to vary your reading content to keep it all interesting.

Viola Walton I think a lack of enough man-book-ideas, probably means more men are needed to submit the ideas. It is not something where you can poll women to reach a conclusion for men. That is probably a harder category to put together, then one based on race.

Tawnie Mizer I would definately say The Book of M by Peng Shepherd and The Map of Salt and Stars by Jennifer Zeynab Joukhadar . The Book of M is an amazing dystopian fiction book that was out this June. The Map of Salt and Stars that was out this may is realistic fiction about a modern day Syrian imigrant family and their journey to get free from violence in their Syrian hometown. Both incredible reads!

Viola Walton Finally, I have decided to tackle George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones Series, after reading the 8 or 9 books in the series of the Jack T. Whyte Camulod Chronicles ...I have been sort of burned out on tackling anything that goes on for that long. Pray with my poor eyesight; that I can get through at least the first 4 volumes. Wish me luck! As my Dad would always say to anyone reading a thick book. "That will keep you out of bars, and off street corners; for awhile."
