November is coming and I’m beginning to acquire a taste for coffee. Why, for the love of God, would I do that? Well, with November comes NaNoWriMo which means many a day and night writing and weeping and bleeding onto a keyboard for 30 days of insanity.
For you newbies, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing month. This is when a billion people from every country and a few nearby planets, come together with the common goal of trying to write 50,000 words in 30 days. A novel. A short novel. The bones of a novel really. But a novel all the same.
The thought is that people never write the book they have hidden in the darkest corners of their heart and mind because they have no deadline. NaNo gives you a deadline.
I’m going to spend this week prepping and getting ready. Since I am the Municipal Liaison for my region I have a few extrae responsibilities like cheerleading, motivating and organizing my local WriMos throughout the month. Each day I’ll do a quick NaNo related post with a tip, trick or total randomness. Maybe it will just be a plot bunny. But I promise to be here helping you prep.
And now I’m going to steal, nay, borrow, from Chuck of Terribleminds.com and do my own informal poll on NaNoWriMo. Though I’ll have considerably less answers then he gets.
So who is doing NaNo this year? Have you participated before? What are your lessons learned from your attempts and “wins”? If this is the first time you’ve heard about it, are you brave enough to start? I’ll be writing a post at you people tomorrow. Or rather, maybe I’ll have a guest blogger do that
Happy planning for your planners. And for you Pantsers- maybe start figuring out your character’s name lol.
