‘Author Talk Interview Session’ was created to promote fellow authors and their work. The interview questions will spotlight the guest writer, show them love, peace, and respect by allowing them to tell you about their books, other projects and plans to promote. It is also designed to give an author who reads the blog interview posted, insights on how they can grow and share in this huge literary field. I want to welcome Patti J. Smith to Author Talk Interview Session. Patti and I met last fall when I was first learning the ropes of online promotions. Since then, she and I have become close friends. I’ve personally read several of her books and I can honestly say they were amazing. I hope you enjoy her interview as much as I did.

WHAT GENRE DO YOU WRITE?
I suffer from JGD … Jumping Genres Disorder. My primary genre is Christian Devotionals; however, my publisher encouraged me to spread my wings a little and I took off! Along with devotionals, my repertoire includes historical romance, romantic comedy, and suspense, all with Christian content.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO WRITE?
I firmly believe the Holy Spirit took my hands and placed them on the keyboard. After a tumultuous and hedonistic lifestyle, I was reintroduced to God’s infinite love and mercy which inspired me to write “And God Still Loves Me – A Journey from the Dark Abyss of Sin to God’s Mercy”, which was published in January 2014.

WHAT ARE YOU PROMOTING AT THE MOMENT
I’m promoting Grave Obsessions, Moments with God and The San Francisco Wedding Planner.
DO YOU ENJOY MEETING PEOPLE AND PROMOTING YOUR WORK?
It took me a while to go out in the world “plugging” my work. I was afraid of being considered self-absorbed, but then, how else is the word going to get out? I’ve met some wonderful people at book signings and my fear has slowly dissipated.
WOULD YOU TRAVEL AND DO SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS TO PROMOTE YOUR BOOK(S)?
Absolutely! I’ve spoken at events locally but would love to “hit the road” if it’s feasible financially.

Social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+) is a goldmine of promotion opportunities. I also attend Christian conferences and fundraisers. I think one of my best method of promoting is my husband. He carries a stack of my business cards and copies of books wherever he goes. (Bless his heart!)

Definitely! The Holy Spirit isn’t done with me yet, sending subtle hints on future projects.
