I can see why it got so much attention--The Bees is certainly a captivating read. But I didn't feel that I really understood how a beehive works by the end of the book. Much of the action and dialogue felt forced and hurried. I was hoping for something more like Watership Down (featuring rabbits), and what I got was some weird mixture of interesting bee life and fairytale drama.
