A to Z Challenge – O is for Odin

As part of the A to Z Challenge for the month of April. I’m posting about my Valkyrie world. I will try to present elements of the world without being too spoilerific ;)

So today is the letter which stands for Odin

Odin

I probably don’t need to go into too much detail on who this god is, considerign the Marvel movies have given us a beautiful personification of the All-Father, courtesy of the extremely talented Anthony Hopkins. I have to be honest and say that I adore the movies so many times, while writing Odin, I have pictured him as Anthony Hopkins.

In the mythology the god was something of a philandering, fathering children hither and yonder, much like Zeus. I’m unsure why Frigga, like Hera, didn’t have a huge freakout whenever he was unfaithful – I certainly would, but it has been known that much of the myths were handed down by male orators so there’s no surprise in it ;)

*Kinda Spoiler Alert*

For the purposes of the Valkyrie series I have delved into the mythology of the Warrior Princess Brunhilde who was said to be the daughter of Odin himself.

Odin’s relationship with Bryn develops through the series and eventually we find out the truth behind his caring attention for Bryn. He gives her Hugin, shich he’s never done before, and his gifts keep coming.

So come back tomorrow for P is for Portal
