Recess

"It’s cold and snowing outside today. I don’t like recess anymore, haven’t liked it since I got put in the special ed class. The teachers want us to put our coats and gloves on and go outside anyway; they say it’s good for us. Most of the kids still run around, so they probably stay warm, but I get cold standing by myself. I shiver as I watch a boy chase a girl around the swing set; she has winter boots on and a blue and white coat. She’s screaming, but I think she likes him chasing her. When he catches her, he wraps his arms around her in a hug, pinning her arms at her side. She keeps struggling to try to get away, and finally they fall down in the snow, laughing."
