Before Hollywood, when he wasn’t in school, Michael McCarthy worked as an extra back in his home region of Boston, MA. He fell in love with life on the movie set during his time on the major studio films “Here Comes The BOOM”, “The Heat”, and “Grown Ups 2″.
McCarthy has lived in Los Angeles for under two years. He spent the majority of his first year getting acclimated and interning on low budget feature films.
Over the course of this past year, he has held a featured role in two major TV series – TNT’s “The Last Ship” and Directv’s “Kingdom”. He also just filmed his first movie with a supporting role as a police officer in an upcoming Untitled Feature Film.
Prior to all this, he was the leading man in a short film “Red Star Cluster” – which is expected to make its festival run this season where he plays Army ranger ‘Kendrick Yarde’.
He’s set a solid pace for himself as a new face in Hollywood thus far. At this rate, he’s on track for a busy and exciting 2015. He may just be somebody to keep an eye out for.
