Writing, Reading and the Kindness to Animals in THE ZEBRA AFFAIRE

I so appreciate the genuine kindness and gentleness of heart of my readers. And then there are those who would like to read The ZEBRA Affaire, yet are fearful the novel is about man being unkind to animals.

GLADLY this is NOT the case.

In fact The Zebra Affaire holds the animal kingdom in a place of high reverence. And in doing so it features Leo the dog, a brave and much loved Rhodesian ridgeback, a peahen and her brood of chicks along with evocative descriptions of various gazelle in the wild, the teamwork of an ostrich, wildebeest and zebra, the antics of a monkey, the close encounter with a magnificent lioness, and a once in a lifetime photo opportunity with a grand family of elephants. In other words, for the animal lover The Zebra Affaire is a rare treat, with its vivid descriptions of the animal world in Africa.



As I wrote to a concerned member on this page: "I assure you no animal is hurt by a human in my novel. Significantly, animals are held up as a shining example as to how mankind could and should behave better. As for the safari scenes, they reflect my awe, and the grit and behavior of both predator and prey alike in their natural habitat.

Alas, in “The Zebra Affaire” humans DO BEHAVE BADLY TO ONE ANOTHER—this remains distressing to this author."
