The time we live in.

It is easy to join the thought that today there are more inhuman acts being carried out than at any other time.

Historically there is a story told that a young prince on viewing the plight of his fellow countryman came to the conclusion that all the misery, pain and suffering in this world was caused by man,'s own desire and cravings for worldly possessions. He thought the solution to be abstinence.

He may have been right but at the time of the English civil war. Oliver Cromwell's England, was to sustain a period of severe public order that forbid music, laughing and dancing in the streets.
Eventually the English Government persuaded Charles Stewart the son of the former beheaded king to ascend the throne as King Charles the Second and head the constitution. The Country returned to a more tolerant way of living.

My point is moderation is a more acceptable way of living and too much of anything is not a good idea.

As for the conditions of the time we are living in I am reminded of my grandmother who every Sunday morning would read a National newspaper and loudly tell every body about a particular outrageous news event saying “What are things coming to!”

She always ignored my comment “If it upsets you so much why do you by the paper?”

The truth is she actually enjoyed and looked forward to reading the paper as it gave her some enjoyment like reading a comic.

Probably thing are no worse from other years and each generation would feel they are on the slippery slopes to Armageddon.
