Writers' Blog Tour, Question 2

The Writers' Blog Tour is a series of four questions answered by a writer, who then invites two more writers to answer the same questions. I've been introduced to the tour by Lauren B. Davis, author of the compelling novel "The Empty Room."

I'm posting my four answers across four different sites. Enjoy!

• Question 1: Why do I write what I do?
• Question 2: What am I working on?
• Question 3: How does my work differ from other work in its genre?
• Question 4: How does my writing process work?

2. What am I working on?

This question makes me queasy because it's a reminder of what I'm not doing right now. For the past eight years I wrote every day, and I produced a trunk full of product. Anytime I was asked to write an essay or contribute a blog post, I grabbed the assignment. I wrote a second memoir, On Location that my agent loved but didn't feel she could sell, so I posted it on my website for free.

Now that Teaching Will has been published, my writing time has been consumed by the marketing grind, trying to get the book to readers, to eyeballs. It's a full-time job keeping up on social media, writing blog posts for other sites, visiting bookstores and planning book launches. I miss my long-form writing life very much and am trying to find my way back.
