Authors Supporting Authors: Jodi Bowersox/J.B. Stockings
Jodi has so much creativity pouring out of her that I'm not sure if I'm in awe or jealous. First, she writes children's books. I've always said that children's books are one of the hardest genres to write because you have to make the story interesting enough to keep a child who is 3+ attention. I can barely hold Madelyne's attention longer than 10 minutes. Second, Jodie also paints watercolors. I've included a few pictures in this interview. And then of course, Jodi is an author of romance books. Like I said, tons of creativity! Can I borrow some? I hope you enjoy meeting Jodi as much as I did! What is your name?
Jodi Bowersox for romance; J.B. Stockings for children's picture books
Where are you from?
I've spent most of my life in NE and KS. I'm a recent transplant to CO.
What genre are you in?

Why are you an Author?
It's an obsession
What inspires you?
All kinds of weird things--sometimes the smallest thing can be the spark that ignites a story idea.
Where and what times during the day do you work best?
I work at home in my office whenever I have the time
Who is your target audience?
Well, the kid's books have an obvious audience : ) The age range is probably 3-9 for The Stubborn Princess and 5-9 for A Tale of Two Kitties.
My romance audience is those women who like some sparks but don't need the details of what goes on in the bedroom. I write contemporary romance, and some of my books have Christian themes, but not all. Cinnamon Girl Explains It All is strictly romantic suspense, Interiors By Design has a few elements of faith, while Horses, Adrenaline, and Love and Rocky Mountain Angels are more faith filled.
I have to warn you, though, I don't get shook up about language, although you will never find the F-word in one of my books. Those that can't stand an occasional "damnation" or other mild profanity should probably not read my books. I also don't pretend that sex doesn't exist. Every real relationship in life deals with the temptation of sex, even if it's not graphicly displayed. I write real romance with real characters. I don't recycle the 6 or so overused plots that most romance writers use.
How do you want your readers to feel as they read your book?
Swept away and entertained.
What is one piece of advice you would give aspiring author?
Now that self-publishing is so easy, don't publish before you're ready. Find some great writers and let them read and critique.
Share one thing about yourself that you would like readers to know.
I am also a watercolor artist specializing in pet portraits. You can view my gallery at www.jodibowersox.com
Why did you start a blog?
I started a blog because everyone tells you that authors need a blog! I also had some some great stories from my youth that I wanted to get down and share. If one scrolls back far enough, that is how my blog starts. Honestly, I wish I were more consistent in writing in my blog, but there's only so much time in the day!
How do you write for your blog? What are some topics that you are passionate about?
As I said, I wanted to get those old stories down and out of my head. I try to keep things light and funny (or sometimes informative if I'm pushing a book or an event) in my author blog. I actually have a couple more blogs where I tackle more serious topics of a spiritual nature when I have time and inspiration.
Your watercolors are gorgeous! Can you include some pictures in this interview so I can share them on my blog?
I'd be glad to!
Are you currently working on another book?
Yes, I'm working on the sequel to Rocky Mountain Angels. The title isn't definite yet, but I'm thinking Rocky Mountain Miracle.
