The Invention of Hugo Cabret

Want to be inspired? Travel. I took this shot while at the Orsay Museum in Paris last week. We’d walked for miles in the pouring rain to get there, me complaining because I had no umbrella and was completely soaked, and my daughter’s all giggly and joyful because they love life, whether they are soaked or not.


The museum’s in an old train station, thus the giant clock. While there I instantly recognized it, from Hugo, the  kids book, and movie, by Brian Selznik. I bet you anything, he got the inspiration for his story about an orphan who lives in the walls a Paris train station from this place (see movie photo below).
