Book III: A Snippet

The very title of this post suggests that yes, I have gotten my veritable procrastinating ass in gear and am back to writing. And not just blog posts or reviews of other people’s work but, in fact, Book III.

ProofBookIII

[that right there would be my computer, bearing witness to the fact that yes, I am, indeed, working on Book III]

Which, in case you’re wondering, is called The Prophecy.

Makes sense, non?

Anyway, it’s Friday and seems like as good a time as any to post a snippet of what I’ve got going. It’s not much, but then again, it’s not like I said I was posting an “excerpt”, so don’t be greedy and instead, take this snippet for what its name suggests – a small piece or brief extract – and enjoy.

Dev stood and brushed herself off, too stunned to speak. Looking about as if in a dream, she could not believe her eyes. She gasped, the reality of her surroundings finally hitting her. Without thinking, she took off running down the road, the route all too familiar, imprinted on her being, humming in the blood of her veins, an intrinsic part of her soul.

Home.

Wyatt watched her disappear down the road and smiled. He and Asher stood for a moment longer then leisurely made their way down the dusty road, Asher running into fields to explore as Wyatt enjoyed the peace and quiet. He spotted her as he rounded the corner, her lone figure, so regal and majestic, standing in a field of green, an expanse that seemed so vast and lonely, as if something vital was missing.

It was the land of her family. And she was seeing it, really seeing it, for the first time in too long. She was transfixed.

He stopped for a moment and studied Dev. Even from a distance, she took his breath away. Stilled his soul and he had to remind himself: inhale, exhale.

Dev felt Wyatt approach and turned back to smile at him.

Her beautiful warrior.

Her lover.

Hers.

She sensed he did not want to intrude upon her moment, that he hesitated, but she wanted him near, to share it with her and so, as Wyatt did often and with such ease, Dev smiled and offered her hand, outstretched and open. She waited until he was near, then reached for him, lacing their fingers together, pulling him close.

Still too stunned to speak, Dev’s eyes told Wyatt everything he needed to know. He wrapped her in his embrace and they stood together.

Quietly.

Happy.

Peace out, bitches!

Denise Loved the sneak peek! :)

Madhuri Pavamani Glad you like it…but you can't be reading Book III snippets before finishing Book II!

message 3: by Denise (new)

Denise Hehehe... you're right! I shouldn't have. I'm only starting chapter 35 in book II... a little less than 3/4 of the way through. Really enjoying this series so much :)

message 4: by Madhuri (new)

Madhuri Pavamani I am SO happy you're enjoying the series. Notes like yours make it all worth doing this. It's so nice to hear from people and what they think of the books.

You rock, Denise.

message 5: by Denise (new)

Denise At least now that I've finished Book II, I won't feel like a cheater. You're really a fine writer, Madhuri. :)

message 6: by Madhuri (new)

Madhuri Pavamani Oh wow, thanks Denise. I'm honored and humbled by your kind words.

And you're totally not cheating - at least not in my book. I'm the same girl that reads the last page of almost every book I own before starting them! I'm the worst. I try not to do it and sometimes I'm able to resist, others I just cannot help myself. The only thing I can say in my defense is that this behavior never stops me from reading the book in its entirety.

So now that you're finished with Book II, you know I have to pick your brain a bit, right? Again, I can't help it. Totally does not mean you have to indulge my behavior. :)

What did you like most? did you like the new characters? anything you didn't like? anything you would like to see more of in book III?

message 7: by Denise (new)

Denise LOL Madhuri! I can't believe you admitted that sometimes you're a read-the-end-first girl... I only ever did that once (way back in a junior high school lit class), and it so totally ruined the book for me that I think I learned my lesson!

OK, now for the brain-picking... ;)

I seriously loved all of the new characters at the Ramyan palace, as well as that setting, and the Imp in London was very cool, too. (It would be interesting if there were more of them in the Book III story somewhere.) Your descriptions of all of the new characters are spot-on; just enough that I can visualize them. And Asher is very cool. I also liked the way the Darby - Jedda storyline progressed in Book II and, of course, the four main characters are all really well developed by this point in the story. :) (SPOILER AHEAD) I very much enjoyed experiencing everyone's reactions to the new Wyatt.

After Book I, I had already told you how much I like Coco's character. Now, after Book II, I'm wondering if there's a chance for more interaction between her and Wyatt. Maybe there are weapons things they can learn from each other?

You've done a great job painting the Breslin baddies. (ANOTHER SPOILER) I loved that Ava beheaded her own son (hehehe), although I have to admit that I really want the rest of the Breslins to die in Book III... That being said, I could also see how you might prefer to keep one alive at the end of the tale, or even to redeem one of them.

Super excited about Book III coming up. - Denise

Madhuri Pavamani The Breslins are the worst, aren't they, but such a necessary evil. Trust when I say that with Max out of the dynamic and Ava's attention back on Carter, they will be a force to be reckoned with. Not too sure redemption is in the cards for either of those two.

And so glad you liked the new characters. I'm quite taken with Jedda, in fact, I rather love him, and Abha brings the joy. She's such a free spirit. And good call on my moonlight imp, Pru. Her story is not finished.

The Jedda-Darby story is my next trilogy. Of course, I suppose first I should finish book III!

So this has been super fun, Denise, and I hope you'll keep in touch as I make progress on Book III.

One question - when you have time, and there is no rush at all, and if you don't mind, if you could copy and post your reviews of The Girl and The Boy on Amazon, I would be so very appreciative. It really helps to have reviews on there as well, especially since The Boy has so few. I hope you don't mind me asking.

Talk soon,
Madhuri

message 9: by Denise (new)

Denise Yes, the Breslins are (as my husband would say) really good baddies! Glad to hear that Pru will be back -- I forgot to mention Abha; she was very free, indeed, and another great new character.

Just added my reviews of both books at amazon.

Keep on writing -- I can't wait for Book III!

Take care, Denise

Madhuri Pavamani You rock.

Seriously.

Oh hey, if you have friends that are interested in reading THE GIRL, tell them to vote for it to be selected as July's Book of the Month read. Any vote helps.

So far, I'm in 6th place.

Here's the link: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/1...

What are you reading next? I'm reading a friend's book called The Light Who Shines and so far, it's pretty great.

message 11: by Denise (new)

Denise Just had two notes (one for The Girl and one for The Boy) from amazon (already!) saying that my reviews helped another shopper -- woot woot!

OK, will pass the link along.

I'm about halfway through reading Luz (Luis Gonzalez) and finding it sometimes really good and sometimes not enjoyable at all... very, very wordy writing style though lol. But I am plugging away at it because it is intriguing.
