If  we don't buy anything made of ivory there will be no more demand and these magnificent, highly intelligent animals will be free once more. It is up to each and every one of us. Thank you for your support!

In my support I pledge 10% net royalties in 2014 from ALL my books to go to  the conservation of Africa's wildlife.

Picture The magnificent Medina Palms in Watamu, Kenya, has also teamed up with The Born Free Foundation to support a number of community based wildlife conservation projects in Kenya. The first is to deliver improved protection for marine turtles in partnership with the Local Ocean Trust in Watamu.  The second is to support Born Free’s Pride of Kenya initiative and, in particular, the building of lion-proof bomas in rural communities.  And, the third is to support the Mwalunganje Elephant Sanctuary, a community project not far from the coast http://www.medinapalms.com/ Poaching is now highly organised and carried out on such a scale as never seen before. Militia armed with state of the art weaponry have become the new poachers, the new scourge sweeping Africa. Do you want to help us?
Picture With only one thing in mind, to line their pockets, poachers have absolutely no regard for the huge impact their greed is having on the African continent nor the magnificent creatures they've come to murder.  Do you have any ideas that we my impliment?

August 22nd, 2012 at 11:21 pm " It was an honour and a privilege to have met Joy and George during their visit to our hotel on Lake Kariba in the late 60′s. What an incredible tribute to mankind. I do so admire those who have the courage to follow their hearts. The Adamson’s did just that. Joy too is a woman after my own heart.. there’s no temple more magnificent than the wilds, no miracle more breathtaking than an African sunset and no sermon more moving than the roar of a lion.. that is freedom." “It is a great honour for Born Free to have been selected by the World Travel Market as one of the three winners of the 2013 award.

We have always believed that, far and wide, the needs and problems facing people and wildlife are interlinked. As human populations increase so do the pressures we impose on natural resources, wild environments and wild species. At this critical time, our work has become even more necessary.

This award has given us all enormous encouragement and, on behalf of everyone at Born Free, I would like to express my gratitude.”
Born Free has a portfolio of over 100 conservation and wild animal welfare projects worldwide.

Will Travers OBE, co-founder and CEO of the charity, praised the dedication and commitment of the many men and women involved in Born Free’s projects overseas, and called for increased commitment by all stakeholders to support the humane conservation of wildlife.

“Responsible tourism can have a lasting and positive impact on the survival of species, the conservation of environments and the long-term prospects of some of the world's most fragile communities. I hope that Born Free's achievement in winning this World Tourism Award will inspire others to do what they can to make our world a better place for all."
