So I popped on over the Amazon to download Mr. Mercedes and I noticed a book called Crossroads also by Stephen King. As my finger headed to the Buy With One-Click button, I noticed that it had only a 2 star rating. Odd. Turns out that there is some hack out there writing garbage under the name Stephen King. I feel kind of outraged - there must be some kind of law against that, don't you think? Anyway, wanted to vent any warn you other SK fans. Also, why would this fraudster's book show up in my results page when I searched on "Mr. Mercedes?"

I wonder how many people got sucked in and bought it! Thanks for the warning, although I never shop on Amazon.
Dear Stephen,Thanks for keeping your blog up here. Back in 1980, you sent me a note that said: Just tell a good story. You are truly the Jackson of our generation - the most populist of authors. On'Ya dude!
I spotted that and then read the comments under the book. It does seem some people bought it (and read it!) not realising it wasn't THE Stephen King. I think the way Amazon works the more people who buy it thinking it is Stephen King, the higher it will appear on recommendations for other Stephen King fans, who may then buy it and lo the vicious circle is complete.
