Why Write Science Fiction?

Most readers have a strong reaction to science fiction--love it or leave it alone. Wikipedia has information on the genre far above and beyond what I could say here. Click on this post's title to go there. I happen to love science fiction, so I was very interested in what all the contributing authors had to say. I hope you are, too. I've kept my comments short because there are so many authors here today.
