Kaje Harper is fast becoming one of my favourite writers. I love how she takes her time with bringing the characters together, it makes everything feel fleshed out and real. This one had an added element of mystery to it. It didn't take over the story but it added a nice dimension of tension to go along with the chemistry between John and Ryan.
Something I also really liked about the story were the problems facing these two, separately, and together. Both had a rough journey to get to where they are at the start of the novel. Ryan has scars, both inside and out, and John has this feeling of loneliness and sadness at not being able to see his kids. Both of them move you from the start.
The sex scenes were solid and their first kiss made me gasp. I loved it. And I loved Torey and Mark, Mark especially, he was a wonderful child and his problems felt real too.
Read this one, will leave you feeling satisfied long after you've read it.
