Intergalactic Gold

I’ve never had a baby, but I think that writing a book is the closest experience I’m likely to have. There’s this huge gestation period (in this case two years) during which you want to eat nothing but chocolate ice cream and cry for no reason. Then, finally the book is finished, and you start this labor process where you put your life into the hands of an editor. Part of you wants there to be a lot of really critical edits because you want your book to be the best version of itself that it can be, but part of you is too terrified to open the damn document because it’s your creation, and you know that you just asked someone else hack it to pieces.

But… after the pain goes away and you get to hold the finished draft, you’re always really glad that you wrote it, and you’re proud of it, so you want to start posting pictures of it all over facebook and instagram.
