Hello, and welcome to the official blog of author Tom Wescott. Moving forward, news and information relating to Wescott's published works will be found here. Due for publication early in 2014 is his debut book,
The Bank Holiday Murders: The True Story of the First Whitechapel Murders
. This non-fiction work of research and investigative journalism chronicles the murders of East End prostitutes, Emma Smith and Martha Tabram, both murdered on subsequent bank holidays in the year 1888. They mark the beginning of what would become the 'Whitechapel murders'. Largely overlooked by modern researchers because of doubt that they were the 'work' of Jack the Ripper, Wescott presents new information and evidence that challenges and, in some cases, completely demolishes accepted wisdom. Among the new discoveries are:
* Actual proof identifying an accomplice to at least some of the murders.
* Proof this accomplice would have known at least 5 consecutive murder victims.
* Compelling evidence presented against a well-known policeman who was complicit in framing a suspect.
* An in-depth look at the 'common denominator' between the known accomplice to the murderer and the policeman who aided in at least one known cover-up.
* A new evaluation of the police and medical evidence that concludes Emma Smith and Martha Tabram were murdered by the same man or men.
The Bank Holiday Murders is not another speculative 'suspect' book but an unbiased presentation of a long-term investigation that has produced extraordinary new evidence that, the author hopes, will propel Ripperology towards the 'final solution' long hoped for.
