I came across an interesting blog 50 incredily-tough-books-for-extreme-readers - phew! Extreme readers! Extreme sports! I'm exhuasted. I think I'll put my feet up and read the funnies. For those of you who are on a higher plane than myself check out this blog, and no cheating, tell me how many of those brain-busters you've read.
The blog is written by Emily Temple who gave a short summary of each book which left me with impression that she read all of them. I'd be interested in knowing if she did. If she did then you're a better man than me Gunga Din, er, Ms.Temple.
I'd never even heard of most of the books! I knew the authors' names but not the books. I'm familiar with the Faerie Queene only because Elizabeth I is my most favorite person in history. I love the woman. Gutsy, ballsy, feminine, intelligent, flirtatious, all those gorgeous men fighting over her hand, and how about that wardrobe! No wonder Spenser wrote an epic poem celebrating her.
The Divine Comedy, I think everybody in the world is familiar with it. But who has actually read it? I've heard it read in English. I don't know if that counts.
All in all the list is fascinating. Got an opinion? I'd like to hear it.
