What's a REAL Man Anyway?
It's Saturday night and there's a wicked snowstorm outside. I'm going to get this posted so I can go keep my husband warm. I'm a Northern Girl and that's what we do. Just ask the Beach Boys.
So, tonight is all about finding the balance. Women want men. Real men. (Unless they are lesbians, but I'm not schooled in the ways of the lesbians so for our purposes, let's leave them out of it.)
So what do women think a real man is?
He's somewhere between a Neanderthal and a metro-sexual that's a little too in touch with his feminine side.
He wants his woman, but he's not desperate about it. He has self-respect. He won't stay with someone who treats him poorly. He won't invite her to a guy's night and force all his buddies to endure the pain of trying to make her feel welcome when they really just want to play poker and be crude. He goes out with his buddies, making sure that he gives her his best 'attention' before he leaves (or he makes it up later when he sobers up).
He takes care of himself and smells delicious, like SUBTLE cologne (i.e. not the whole bottle). He is well-dressed and takes pride in his appearance but he doesn't spend more time getting primped than his girl. In fact, he doesn't primp at all. He's not rocking the perfectly sculpted eyebrows, but he doesn't let them grow into a uni-brow either. He's somewhere in between.
He's protective but not controlling. There is a big difference. We want the guy who will stand up for us and maybe even kick a little ass if someone gets all "gropey". We don't want the guy who tells us where we can and can't go, what we can/can't wear, or who we can/can't go out with. That guy needs a therapist, not a girlfriend.
So think about where you fall on the man spectrum. If you're somewhere in the middle, we're into you. Just do all the things in my first six blog posts in this series and you should be getting a little less conversation and a lot more action.
Good night!
MJ
