MY DISRUPTIVE CHALLENGE

Devices Acting on Behalf of Humans. “The beginning of the Participation Age was us having expectations about how we interact with other people. Now, all our devices have sensors embedded in them are actually starting to participate on our behalf.

“The big challenge in that is how we incorporate that data and information into a much more complex marketing ecosystem. Because we’re not just interacting with humans, we’re interacting with devices acting on our behalf.

“That’s where everything is going in the next phase of the Participation Age.”

Let's Disrupt This!

We cannot stop this trend. However we can do better when we participate with it.

As consumers, we can participate more robustly with those services that “get” us, and we can shut down or ignore those that don’t.

As providers of services, we need to dig deeper into the early messages those devices send us, listening more carefully for the human voice they only partially represent.

And as individuals, we must embrace that, more and more, our digital footprint is our footprint… And we must manage that as carefully as we would any other “real” part of who we are.
