So big news for everyone in Southern Washington Heights: after months of renovation, Heights Tavern finally opened last night.   IMG_5377It's on the corner of 164 and Broadway and stretches about halfway down the block. Last night was fairly packed, but the place was running very smoothly. The menu is standard American fare/upscale bar food -- everything from hamburgers to fried chicken to oysters on the half-shell -- but everything we tried was great. They also have many beers on tap and an assortment of cocktails. In short, highly recommend!  IMG_5378
Bonus for all of you MTV fans: Taylor and Frankie from the reality show "Washington Heights" (R.I.P.) were on site, which was surreal and fun. (I was too shy to ask for a picture.)

Dr. Sliderule This is great news for southern Washington Heights. Between the redevelopment along Broadway, the Redevelopment of the High Bridge and the Highbridge Park (see, the redevelopment of the Washington Heights bus terminal, and the new hotels going in you might think there was a renaissance in the neighborhood.
Good luck to all and the best to the neighborhood.
I can't wait until I can take a ride on the High Bridge
