MY FAVORITE DISRUPTIVE CHANGE
“My favorite disruptive change is having children. Ya know, it’s great that I can get guitar instruction on my iPad. That’s fun. It’s not disruptive.
“Until I had children, it was about the here and now. What am I getting done today? Maybe what am I doing tomorrow. And then with children, it was legacy that mattered. It was the future. It’s what is going to happen after I die. It’s the notion that there’s something beyond us, and what we do now matters.
“The literal interpretation of that is: I’ve got to leave something for my kids. But way beyond that is: What is the impact we have here and now on what comes after us. Whether it’s 10 years or 100 years from now.
“On the one hand, this makes me think about space and time in a much more expansive way. But it also me realize that every little minute counts.”
