MY FAVORITE DISRUPTIVE CHANGE
“A lecture I heard when I was a medical student: The role of touch in patient/physician communication. Empathic touch. Reassuring touch. Whether it be holding someone’s hand, squeezing an elbow as a measure of support. That lecture really changed my way of thinking. At our 30-year reunion I had a chance to share what a difference that made in my life.”
MY CURRENT DISRUPTIVE CHALLENGE
“Time management. I’m doing a fellowship in integrative medicine because I have an interest in the wholeness of care. It requires a lot of study and even though I’m really enjoying it, my issue is how to fit everything into a 24-hour day — my busy practice, studying, self-care, continuing to exercise and meditate. The issue of trying to get it all done is something everyone struggles with. One has to find a sense of balance. Balance is the key.”
