What’s In A Name?

People often ask me about my name, Wambui Bahati. I am asked what the origin is. I am asked, “What does your name mean?” I am asked, “How do you pronounce it?” I get emails from people who ask if I’m from Kenya.

I was not born in Africa. I was born in the state of North Carolina in the United States. Wambui Bahati is not the name that my mother originally named me. However, today, Wambui Bahati is my legal name.
