Thank you for loving me… from “Charmeine” in “The Light-Bearer Series”

As Charmeine was looking at Tabbruis, his eyes began to flutter.
She ran to the bed and knelt beside him stroking his face. “Are you alright? Do you need more blood?”
Tabbruis shook his head and said faintly, “No, the bleeding has stopped.”
She smiled and kissed his cheek softly. “That’s good. I’ll be right back.” She went into the Master Bathroom and closed the door. She started the garden tub and put some shampoo in the water for lots of bubbles. When it was full enough, she stopped the water. She came back into the bedroom.
“You need a bath Tabbruis. Can you help me get you in there?”
He nodded.
She got him up, and he leaned on her to walk into the bathroom. She sat him on the ledge of the tub.
Tabbruis was taken aback and did not know what to do because she did not leave the bathroom.
She sensed his distress and asked, “Please trust me?”
He nodded very shyly.
She went to the night table and got the scissors.
When she came back to the bathroom, he looked at her with his eyebrows raised in a questioning look.
She shook her head, laughed. “Geez Louise, you think I saved your life to kill you now? Really? Too funny. You need to get a grip,” as she made a funny face.He started to chuckle.
“That’s music to my ears. I love it when you laugh Tabbruis.”
He uttered in a strained voice, “That is exactly how I feel when you laugh.”
Still cutting the bandages off of him she asked, “Oh yeah, what did the Light-Bearer say to the Blood-Hunter at a barbeque?”
“What?”
“The Light-Bearer said to the Blood-Hunter at the barbeque, ‘How would like your steak rare, medium or well-done?’ You know… using lightning…to cook at a barbeque?”
He shook his head laughing, “That has got to be the worst joke I have ever heard in my life.”“Yeah, well when I need a joke one day, you can tell me a bad one!”
“I do not know any jokes.”
Smiling and snickering, she said, “Neither do I.”
“Case in point, the joke you just told me.”
She rolled her eyes at him and sarcastically said, “Ha, ha, funny man.”
She finally took all the bandages off. She smiled and said in her Schwarzenegger impression, “I’ll be back!” She gathered up all the bloody linens and took them to the hall closet and put them in the hamper.
When she came back into the bathroom, she took a hold of the string of Tabbruis’ bathing suit and said, “I’m just loosening the string on your suit, so when you get in the water, you can get it off.”
He shook his head and said faintly, “Not like this.”
She said to him gently, “Of all things Tabbruis, I want to give you as much privacy as I can. Just think of me as a nurse, this is clinical, not sexual.”
He shook his head and said quietly, “I have always taken care of myself.” He wanted her but not like this, weak and tired.
“Listen, you need my care, period. I know the tough guy act plays a lot of points with the ladies, but this is not about sex or masculinity. Now, please look into my eyes. Have I ever lied to you? Do you not trust me? There is nothing about this except you need a bath. Just look into my eyes and everything will be okay. Trust me, I will respect your privacy, believe me. However, you need a bath, so get your butt in that tub, now!”
Tabbruis looked at her with a grimace, and she mockingly returned his grimace by one of her own. Softly she said, “Now, swing your legs over, and I’ll help lower you in the tub.”
Once Tabbruis was in the bubble-filled tub, she asked, “Suit please?” and held out her hand. Without looking anywhere else except in his eyes, he handed her the suit. She took the suit and put it in the hamper in the hallway. When Charmeine returned, she looked in his eyes. She knelt by the tub, took the washcloth and soap and started to rub them together.She knew he was weak and kept her eyes focused on his eyes. “I’m going to clean you, if I wash you too hard, let me know. You have so many wounds; it’s going to be hard to tell.”
Keeping eye contact with him, she took the soapy washcloth and gently washed his arms, chest and back, being especially delicate with the wounds or at least the ones she could see. While looking his eyes, she put some shampoo in her hands and washed and rinsed his hair. Seeing the water was all bloody, she looked at Tabbruis in the eyes, released the drain and started replacing the bloody water with clean water and put shampoo in the water for bubbles.
She leaned over and put a fresh clean towel behind his head as a pillow. “Tabbruis, lean back now. Please close your eyes for a few minutes, rest and be calm.”
As Tabbruis leaned back, she stroked his forehead. He closed his eyes and moaned letting out a big breath. All his muscles in his body started to relax letting the warm water soak into his skin.
She bent down and said softly, “I’m turning on the water jets, so you can soak. Please relax, I will come back and check on you later.”
His eyes rolled around his head and thought he was in a whirlwind. He wanted the world to slow for just a moment, enough to think.
She rubbed his forehead, “Rest and dream a little dream of me.” She went to the door and said, “Everything will be okay.” She closed the bathroom door to give him some alone time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is one of the most loving parts of “Charmeine”.
Offering love freely is the one gift we can all give.
My hope as you listen to the song,
You think of that special someone you need to thank…
“Thank You For Loving Me”
It’s hard for me to say the things
I want to say sometimes
There’s no one here but you and me
And that broken old street light
Lock the doors
We’ll leave the world outside
All I’ve got to give to you
Are these five words tonight
[Chorus:]
Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn’t see
For parting my lips
When I couldn’t breathe
Thank you for loving me
Thank you for loving me
I never knew I had a dream
Until that dream was you
When I look into your eyes
The sky’s a different blue
Cross my heart
I wear no disguise
If I tried, you’d make believe
That you believed my lies
[Chorus:]
Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn’t see
For parting my lips
When I couldn’t breathe
Thank you for loving me
You pick me up when I fall down
You ring the bell before they count me out
If I was drowning you would part the sea
And risk your own life to rescue me
[Solo]
Lock the doors
We’ll leave the world outside
All I’ve got to give to you
Are these five words tonight
[Chorus:]
Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn’t see
You parted my lips
When I couldn’t breathe
Thank you for loving me
When I couldn’t fly
Oh, you gave me wings
You parted my lips
When I couldn’t breathe
Thank you for loving me
