Living for you… from “Mactus” in “The Light-Bearer Series” by Emily Guido
Smiling and jubilant, Tabbruis finished giving Charmeine blood and noticed her cheeks becoming pink and rosy.
She opened her eyes whispering, “Tabbruis?”
He held her hand and whispered in her ear, “Everything is fine Charmeine, you are safe.”
“Shane… is he okay?”
“Oh yes, my love, he is fine. Everyone is aboard the plane. You will be well soon. After you rest, we will talk. I am right here with you. Sleep and dream a little dream of me this time. I will be holding you when you awake.”
She nodded and drifted off to sleep with a little grin on her face.
Never taking his hands off her, Tabbruis got up and sat on the couch putting her head on his lap.
Neal smiled was happy for his brother, but with a gentle hand he touched Tabbruis’ shoulder and quietly said, “We should ask the stewardess to clean and change her clothes. You do not want her to wake up in this condition, do you?”
He answered, “No, you are right Neal. However, I will clean and change her clothes Brother. Just ask the stewardess to bring her travel bag, towels, soap, and water. I will need privacy while she is being cleaned up.”
Neal made the arrangements and left the room, so they could have privacy.
A couple minutes later, the stewardess brought in two bowls of warm soapy water, towels, and Charmeine’s travel bag. Then she nodded her head and left.
He said with a tear in his eye, “I will be the one to give you privacy now Charmeine.” Tabbruis looked at her beautiful face while he took off the ripped turtle-neck and bloody camisole. Gently, he cleaned her body and hair of the blood never looking anywhere except her face. He dried her off, took another camisole out of the bag and put it on her.
Then he thought, ‘Her rose lotion. She loves it so much. I wonder if she packed it.’ He reached in the bottom of the bag, and found it.
As he rubbed it on her tanned arms, the smell of roses brought back a collage of memories of the night they met. While he was carrying her to the limo, he smelled roses. As Tabbruis held her that night, she had put it on right before she came to bed. Charmeine was intoxicating to him. Her love of roses reminded him of her purity and beauty. While putting on her hoodie, he saw her jeans were soaked with blood also. His stomach turned when he thought about what the Blood-Hunter would have done to her. He took off her tennis shoes. Just looking at her face, he removed her jeans. While doing this, he said, “I never thanked you for the way you treated me last night. No one…” and he held back tears, “has ever treated me with such kindness and tenderness. However, you offered it to me like you have an ocean of it to give.” He cleaned her, reached in the bag and pulled out a pair of yoga pants. Still looking into her face, he put the pants on along with her shoes.
After he made sure she was clean and perfect, he began to brush her soft golden hair. As Tabbruis held her hair in his hands, he thought it really was like spun honey. When he was done, he sat on the couch and lifted her head to rest on his thigh. He rang for the stewardess and asked, “I need a few things done. Please remove everything. Then bring me a pillow and blanket for her. Also ask my son and Neal to sit with us. Finally, we all will require refreshment.”
The stewardess smiled and said, “Yes Mr. Hunter,” then she started to carry out his instructions.
A minute later, Neal came in bringing a cut crystal decanter of blood. Tabbruis smelled instantly it was human blood. He said with a questioning look on his face, “Donated?”
With an expression of disbelief, Neal said, “Yes, Tabbruis. I do not kill humans to sustain my life. I have existed on animal blood for millennia. However, I have come to appreciate a little extravagance and drink donated human blood. I also enjoy drinking it from crystal rather than plastic donor bags.” Neal handed Tabbruis a crystal glass of human blood. Tabbruis could not argue with his sentiment. When he drank the blood, it was exquisite and quite elegant drinking out of crystal.
Shane walked in with a relieved look on his face when he saw Charmeine was all clean and resting comfortably.
Tabbruis beamed with a big smile and said, “Son, I am very proud of you for saving her life. However, are you okay? Do you want to talk about your transformations?” He noticed Shane’s face went black with worry.
“There’s nothing to talk about,” he answered in a serious tone. “I am a Light-Bearer and Blood-Hunter hybrid. But Father, let’s keep this between us until I can…” and he took a deep breath, “…until I can process what’s happened and get some answers.”
He touched Charmeine’s cheek with tenderness and kissed her forehead.
Still asleep, she turned her head and smiled.
Tabbruis said, “You have always been able bring a smile to your mother’s face.”
As an Author, there are aspects of my writing that hit home in my heart.
This excerpt does that in a lot of ways…
This song has been special to me ever since it’s release date in 1994.
It still brings tears to my eyes.
From Boston – Livin’ For You…
Enjoy and give your loved one a special hug today!
Livin’ without you never could be so wrong
Don’t need to say it, I never waited so long
Thinking about yo in everthing I do
Love for giving
You know I’m just livin’ for you
And I, I never needed to lie
Can’t you see I believe in my heart when I’m saying
It’s love that you see
You’re just the one for me
I’m praying
Maybe I’m dreaming, don’t want to wake up now
Baby, I love you, I always knew it somehow
Happened so easy, don’t need to think it through
It’s not so amazing
Been going so crazy for you
Dreaming and hoping, hoping that dreams come true
You’re my religion, girl, I’ve been living for you
Don’t want to fight it, tried everything I know
I won’t deny it
You’re everywhere I try to go
And I, I never needed to lie
Can’t you see I believe in my heart when I’m saying
It’s love that you see
You mean the world to me
I’m praying for you
Knew it so easy, don’t have to think it through
Love is for giving
I know I’m just livin’ for you
Love is for giving
I know I’m just livin’ for you
